Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL: What's New

All three phones run on Google's new Tensor G6 chip, which Google says delivers 25% faster web browsing and 15% quicker app launches than the previous Tensor G5, along with 50% more TPU compute for on-device AI tasks. The design changed too — Google cut the camera bar's thickness by 40% on the base Pixel 11, and every model now has scratch-resistant glass running edge-to-edge across the back.

The camera saw real upgrades: Pixel 11 gets a new 48-megapixel main sensor with 56% more light sensitivity and 30x Super Zoom, while the Pro and Pro XL add a redesigned 48-megapixel telephoto lens and push zoom out to 120x. Pro and Pro XL also introduce HiLight — a ring of LEDs around the camera flash that glows to show notifications or Gemini activity without lighting up the whole screen. All models come with 7 years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates, a real change from the 3-4 years phones used to get.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold: Thinner, Lighter, Three Times More Durable

Google also announced a new foldable at the same event. Pixel 11 Pro Fold is roughly 10% lighter and about 1mm thinner than last year's Pixel 10 Pro Fold, with thinner bezels and a new glass fiber composite back Google says is nearly impossible to crack. A new gearless hinge and a Super Actua outer display made of ceramic cover glass push durability to 3 times that of the previous generation, and both the inner and outer displays now hit 3,600 nits — 20% brighter than last year. It keeps the same IP68 water and dust resistance rating as before.

Charging is faster too: 50% battery in about 30 minutes on 30W wired, or up to 25W wirelessly, with Google rating battery life at over 24 hours. It runs the same Tensor G6 chip as the rest of the Pixel 11 line, paired with 16GB of RAM, plus a foldable-specific feature developed with the Deaf community: sign-to-text, which translates American Sign Language into live captions on the outer display through Live Transcribe and Gboard. Camera-wise it gets the same 48-megapixel main sensor and 30x Super Zoom telephoto as the base Pixel 11.

Pixel Watch 5: Faster Chip, Bigger Battery, One Big Caveat

Pixel Watch 5 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2, which Google says is 20% faster than the Watch 4 with 50% more RAM. Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours (41mm) or 40 hours (45mm) with the always-on display running, and Google claims its most accurate GPS tracking yet — outperforming Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Garmin Fenix 8 Pro in Google's own internal testing.

The headline feature is Breathing Emergency Detection, which monitors for severe drops in oxygen saturation and can automatically call emergency services if you're unresponsive. Worth knowing before anyone gets excited: Google's own announcement says this specific feature launches first in Europe, and Canadian availability isn't confirmed yet. Everything else — the new Health Guardian trend summaries for blood pressure, sleep, and metabolic health — is listed as "coming soon" rather than available at launch.

Pixel Buds Pro 2: New Colour, Not New Hardware

This isn't a new generation — it's the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 getting a software update and a new Olive colourway. The updates: Dynamic ANC that adjusts noise cancelling in real time as the earbud seal shifts, Gemini voice control for settings ("Hey Google, turn up the bass"), automatic music pausing when your Pixel Watch detects you've fallen asleep, and an upgraded Live Translate that understands over 70 languages and can speak translations back through your phone. Priced at $299 CAD, available now in Olive; the software update rolls out in September. The budget Pixel Buds 2a were also refreshed alongside it, priced at $179 CAD.

Also Announced: Pixel Tag

Google confirmed a Bluetooth item tracker, Pixel Tag, priced at $39.99 CAD — matching Apple's AirTag pricing in Canada. Unlike everything else in this post, it isn't shipping alongside the Pixel 11 launch: Pixel Tag doesn't hit shelves until November 11, 2026.

Final Thoughts

The Tensor G6 upgrades and Pixel Watch 5's GPS claims are genuinely notable, but the pricing moved up across the board this year, and the watch's headline health feature isn't confirmed for Canada at launch — worth knowing before you pre-order sight unseen. We don't stock Pixel gear yet, but Galaxy Watch Ultra, Fitbit's Sense 2 and Charge 6, and Beats Solo4 are all in stock today if you want something in hand this week instead of waiting for August 20.
